Aveda Institute Chicago Sponsors 5th Annual Project Beauty Scholarship Contest

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 22, 2007 -- Today aspiring students have the chance to enter the Aveda Institute Chicago 2007 Project Beauty Scholarship Contest to win a full scholarship to the area's premier training ground for cosmetology and esthiology.

To win the scholarship, dozens of Chicago's most creative students will show off their best work during a live Project Beauty contest in which cosmetology contestants spend one day making over models, displaying their innovations in hair design and styling, skin care and makeup. At the same time, esthiology students will show the depth of their skills and unique techniques in makeup application.

A panel of judges will select two grand prize winners who will receive a full scholarship valued at $17,090 for cosmetology and $11,590 for esthiology. A first runner up for each program will receive $1,500 and second runner up will receive $1,000 toward tuition to the Aveda Institute Chicago.

To show that everybody is a winner, Project Beauty will award all contestants a minimum of $500 toward tuition to the Aveda Institute Chicago.

To be eligible:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, not enrolled in or previously attended another school offering a similar course of study and have had no prior professional training.

To apply:

Applicants must complete an application available at www.avedainstitutechicago.com. The application asks applicants to submit a clear, color "before" photo of their model, who is 16 years or older, along with a 500 word essay on how their becoming a beauty professional will benefit the salon and spa industry. They also must state their opinion on what they consider to be today's greatest beauty issues and challenges. Applications, photos and essays must be received by Saturday, September 29, 2007.

Additionally, all applicants must attend a mandatory information interview on October 5 at which time they must complete an entrance exam with admissions representatives and provide:

?    Completed immunization form

?    Letter of intent

?    Letter of recommendation

?    Photo identification

?    Copy of high school diploma or GED

?    Copy of official high school transcripts

Contestants selected to compete will be notified via mail with a letter confirming when to arrive, what to bring and whom to invite.
